Ein Titel sagt, dass Sie Geld bekommen. Die Pfändungstabelle sagt, wie viel davon der Arbeitgeber überhaupt überweisen darf. Bei niedrigem Einkommen und mehreren Unterhaltspflichten kann das nichts sein.
Kurz gefasst
- Die Tabelle beantwortet eine einzige Frage: Wie viel vom Netto darf der Arbeitgeber an den Gläubiger abführen?
- Zwei Angaben genügen dafür – das monatliche Netto und die Zahl der Personen, denen der Schuldner gesetzlich Unterhalt schuldet.
- Die Beträge stehen nicht im Gesetz, sondern in der Pfändungsfreigrenzenbekanntmachung, und wechseln jährlich zum 1. Juli, § 850c Abs. 4 ZPO.
- Über dem Höchstbetrag ist das Einkommen voll pfändbar, § 850c Abs. 3 ZPO.

Hinweis
Die Spalten zählen Personen, denen der Schuldner gesetzlich Unterhalt gewährt – Ehegatte, frühere Ehegatten, Lebenspartner, Kinder, unter Umständen Eltern. Wer freiwillig zahlt, erhöht damit seinen Freibetrag nicht.
Wie sich der Betrag berechnet
Unterhalb eines Grundbetrags ist das Arbeitseinkommen unpfändbar. Für jede unterhaltsberechtigte Person kommt ein Zuschlag hinzu, für die erste ein höherer als für die folgenden. Erst was darüber liegt, ist überhaupt im Blick.
Von diesem übersteigenden Teil bleiben drei Zehntel unpfändbar, § 850c Abs. 3 ZPO. Gewährt der Schuldner Unterhalt, kommen weitere Zehntel dazu – zwei für die erste Person, je eines für die zweite bis fünfte. Bei fünf Unterhaltspflichten bleibt vom Überschuss also nichts pfändbar.
Oberhalb eines Höchstbetrags endet diese Rechnung: Was darüber liegt, bleibt bei der Berechnung des unpfändbaren Teils unberücksichtigt und ist damit voll pfändbar. Vor der Rechnung wird das Einkommen abgerundet, bei monatlicher Zahlung auf einen durch zehn teilbaren Betrag, § 850c Abs. 5 ZPO. Deshalb steigt die Tabelle in Zehnerschritten.
Was ist vom Einkommen pfändbar?
Das Einkommen nach Abzug von Steuern und Sozialabgaben.
Berechnet nach § 850c ZPO. Grundlage: Pfändungsfreigrenzenbekanntmachung 2026, BGBl. 2026 I Nr. 80, gültig ab 01.07.2026. Unberücksichtigt bleiben Besonderheiten des Einzelfalls, etwa unpfändbare Bezüge nach § 850a ZPO oder ein bestehendes Pfändungsschutzkonto. Unverbindlich, ersetzt keine Rechtsberatung.
Warum im Gesetz andere Zahlen stehen
Wer den Gesetzestext von § 850c Abs. 1 bis 3 ZPO aufschlägt, findet dort Beträge – und sie stimmen nicht mit dieser Tabelle überein. Das ist kein Widerspruch: Die Zahlen im Gesetzestext sind die Ausgangswerte der letzten Reform. Die geltenden macht das Bundesministerium der Justiz als Pfändungsfreigrenzenbekanntmachung im Bundesgesetzblatt bekannt, § 850c Abs. 4 ZPO.
Angepasst wird jeweils zum 1. Juli, und zwar entsprechend der Entwicklung des steuerlichen Grundfreibetrags nach § 32a Abs. 1 Satz 2 Nr. 1 EStG. Die Fundstelle unter der Tabelle nennt die Bekanntmachung, aus der die Werte hier stammen.
Achtung
Eine Pfändungstabelle aus einem älteren Beitrag oder einem Merkblatt ist nach dem 1. Juli überholt. Prüfen Sie vor jeder Berechnung, auf welche Bekanntmachung sich die Tabelle beruft.
Was als Netto zählt
Nicht das, was auf der Gehaltsabrechnung als Auszahlungsbetrag steht. Für die Berechnung bleiben die Bezüge außen vor, die § 850a ZPO der Pfändung entzieht, ebenso Beträge, die der Schuldner aufgrund steuer- oder sozialrechtlicher Vorschriften abführen muss, § 850e ZPO.
Praktisch heißt das: Der Arbeitgeber rechnet, nicht Sie. Er ist als Drittschuldner verpflichtet, den pfändbaren Teil zu ermitteln und abzuführen. Ihre Rechnung mit der Tabelle ist die Erwartung, mit der Sie in das Verfahren gehen.
Hat der Schuldner mehrere Arbeitsverhältnisse, rechnet das Vollstreckungsgericht die Einkommen auf Antrag zusammen, § 850e ZPO. Ohne diesen Antrag bliebe jedes Einkommen für sich unter dem Grundbetrag, und es käme aus keinem etwas.
Vom Titel zur Pfändung
Gepfändet wird nicht mit der Tabelle, sondern mit einem Pfändungs- und Überweisungsbeschluss des Vollstreckungsgerichts. Er verbietet dem Arbeitgeber, an den Schuldner zu zahlen, und dem Schuldner, über die Forderung zu verfügen, § 829 Abs. 1 ZPO.
Zustellen lassen müssen Sie den Beschluss selbst, § 829 Abs. 2 ZPO. Erst mit der Zustellung an den Arbeitgeber ist die Pfändung bewirkt, § 829 Abs. 3 ZPO – und erst ab diesem Tag zählt Ihr Rang gegenüber anderen Gläubigern.

Wenn nichts pfändbar ist
Das kommt vor, und die Tabelle zeigt es sofort: Bei mittlerem Einkommen und zwei Unterhaltspflichten kann in der Spalte eine Null stehen. Der Titel ist damit nicht wertlos. Ein titulierter Anspruch verjährt in dreißig Jahren, § 197 Abs. 1 Nr. 3 BGB – Sie können später erneut vollstrecken, wenn der Schuldner mehr verdient oder eine Unterhaltspflicht wegfällt.

Was ist die Pfändungstabelle?
Eine Übersicht, die für jedes monatliche Netto und jede Zahl von Unterhaltspflichten den pfändbaren Betrag ausweist. Sie setzt die Rechnung aus § 850c Abs. 1 bis 3 ZPO in Zeilen um, damit niemand rechnen muss.
Wie oft ändern sich die Pfändungsfreigrenzen?
Jährlich zum 1. Juli. Das Bundesministerium der Justiz gibt die neuen Beträge als Pfändungsfreigrenzenbekanntmachung im Bundesgesetzblatt bekannt, angepasst an die Entwicklung des steuerlichen Grundfreibetrags, § 850c Abs. 4 ZPO.
Warum stehen im Gesetzestext andere Beträge?
Weil dort die Ausgangswerte der letzten Reform stehen. Maßgeblich sind die Beträge der jeweils geltenden Bekanntmachung, nicht die Zahlen im Paragraphen.
Zählen auch Kinder mit, für die kein Unterhalt gezahlt wird?
Es kommt auf die gesetzliche Verpflichtung an, nicht auf die tatsächliche Zahlung. Ob eine Person mitzählt, entscheidet das Vollstreckungsgericht auf Grundlage der Angaben des Schuldners; freiwillige Leistungen erhöhen den Freibetrag nicht.
Kann ich mehrere Einkommen zusammen pfänden?
Auf Antrag rechnet das Vollstreckungsgericht mehrere Arbeitseinkommen zusammen, § 850e ZPO. Ohne den Antrag bleibt jedes für sich unter dem Grundbetrag, und es kommt aus keinem etwas.
Ab wann wirkt die Pfändung?
Mit der Zustellung des Beschlusses an den Arbeitgeber, § 829 Abs. 3 ZPO. Ab diesem Tag zählt auch der Rang gegenüber anderen Gläubigern, die dieselbe Forderung pfänden.
Was mache ich, wenn nichts pfändbar ist?
